The unexpected postseason hug

    So the women's basketball team I cover had their season end tonight in a tough one-point game. Emotional game, all that jazz. So I'm talking to one girl who had a great game, nearly hit a winning shot, played well. She and I always got along and she even stuck up for me once after a few of her teammates took offense to something I wrote.

    So after I interview her, I thanked her, told her she played well and thanked her for sticking up for me that one time. As I offered a handshake, she took my hand and pulled me in for a hug. Uhhh ... awkward moment. I mean, she's cute with a great, flirty personality. But that's not quite what I expected.

    What should I have done? Besides hit it, I mean ... ;D
