Why is there so much back and forth on this list?
    It's just a list.
    Good for them.
I sent notes to the students I knew and to others I'd like to know.
Shouldn't we want people younger than us to do better than us?

Yes, we should. We're not doing our jobs if we don't make the next generation better.

If we really care, we should convince them to change their majors...

I knew a kid who'd been nominated and would fit Mizzou's favorite descriptive term. Big-time track record at a good college daily and has already done a full-timer's work in a mid-major internship. He really wanted to be on the list, but he also has a sense of humor, so when he e-mailed me a few days after the list came out - and he wasn't on it - I busted his chops by e-mailing back that I was only talking to top 100 college journalists that day.

He immediately e-mailed back that that was OK, because he was only e-mailing with 2007 APSE winners.

If that's not top 100, I don't know what is.

  6. Wow, there's some hotties coming to a newsroom near you

  7. As someone who's worked with Nick, I'd have to majorly disagree with that. And apparently, so does MLB.com.

    David Studinski. Heh. Oh, man.

Who knew Matt Dillon wanted to be a journalist when he was all grown up.

And this list has more Harvard students than Columbia. Shocking.

I see this thread going nowhere good from this point forward.
