If Georgia loses to Georgia Tech that's 2 losses but comes back to beat Alabama for the Tide's 2nd loss that gives 1-loss Florida (if it beats Florida State) a strong argument.

    I am *not* ashamed!

Houston and Hawaii? Are you looking at 2007 standings?

And yes, you're right that if Auburn or Georgia Tech pulls off a major (20-point) upset, then the defeated team beats the other, Florida has a strong argument.

    Houston was 13-1 last season.

    Since 2006 Hawaii has gone 11-3, 12-1, 7-7, 6-7, 10-4, 6-7 -- or 52-29.

Then Alabama can claim Arkansas as a quality win.

And Syracuse is a joke, too.

Well, Syracuse did give Louisville its only loss -- a butt-whipping no less.

Syracuse was a joke most of the 2000s, but the Orangemen are no slouch.

In Big East play, Syracuse has looked good and gained steam. The Southern Cal loss was sandwiched between losses to Northwestern and Minnesota. The Big Ten won something like five games against opponents from BCS conferences, and Syracuse accounted for two.

To that end, then, Syracuse just went on the road and beat an SEC team, 31-27.

Yeah, but it was Missouri so it's not like they beat a real SEC team.

You need a fact checker, Xan:

Florida has beaten only two teams (LSU and A & M) in the Top 10, not four.

Florida is NOT playing in the SEC title game. Georgia won that Division, not the Gators.

And, FWIW, Florida was also outplayed by La-Lafayette, winning only because of a blocked punt in the final seconds, also struggled to beat Bowling Green and Mizzou at home, and has looked like utter crap in several games this year.

My mistake. I misread the Tennessee ranking (yeah, I know, the Vols suck now), so they've beaten 3 in the Top 10 and it'll be 4 should they beat the Noles.

But the non-con games are what they are, and 11-1 with 4 wins over Top 10 teams (including 33-point win over South Carolina) will be hard to overlook if Bama and Georgia have 2 losses each.

It's a stretch, sure, but it's been a strange season.

And you're still wrong. Only two, not three.
