This piece was far better than last year's ultimately unsatisfying Urban Meyer piece that ended up in BASW. To quote what I imagine is one of Thompson's favorite novels, that one was a lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing. I found out things in this new one.

Based on this tweet it sounds like it already starting:

    "Wright Thompson ‏@wrightthompson 29m

Apologies to @JManziel2 and his folks for quotes on the ticker ... i know they appear w/o context. For full story: http://espn.go.com/espn/otl"

I would be. The Manziels don't have an arsenal of IMG/CCA/whaetver agents with Smartphones flooding in to spin the tale. They have Uncle Nate, college dropout.

And one of the most batshit crazy and dedicated alumni fan bases in America.

Sorry. I mean 'Merica. Still forget that they are in the SEC now sometimes.

I meant more along the lines of 'Not what we said, not what we meant, the writer seemed like such a nice guy, we got took advantage of, didn't think he'd write all that stuff, we were just talkin...'

They could, yeah. But Wright's always been rather detailed in his descriptions and quotes.

Manziel could do anything. He's such a little ball of narcissism at this point he's ripe for paranoia.

I am wondering about the logistics at the golf course. Do you think that Wright took a 2nd cart or did he pile in with The Manziels?

And Jake Spavital thought Geno Smith was immature. He should have fun
    trying to coach Manziel.

Not mentioned in article but I wonder if Manziel's unhappiness has anything to
    do with Cliff Kingsbury leaving.

Thompson just tweeted this photo of The Manziels leaving the 19th hole.

Does anyone know what ticker quotes he was apologizing for? I haven't had ESPN on today.
