Great songs, Devil. (Well, "Jesus Of Suburbia" is like six songs rolled into one)

I know, that is why I like Jesus of Suburbia so much.

Hey 93 Devil: great pick with "Conventional Wisdom" by Built to Spill. And Aimee Mann has put out some great under-the-radar stuff, too. She's a very interesting singer.

Good thread. I'll try to toss a list together.

Damn. "Dress Blues" is another song that should have made honorable mention on my list.

For a slight Isbelljack, "God Damn Lonely Love" is his best song, IMO.

Putting together this list was incredibly difficult. After trying to decide how to weigh the popularity of a song on the singles charts, I just decided I'd pick my favorite songs and use the charts as a tiebreaker for bands/artists I couldn't decide on (like The Killers, Sara Bareilles, Gaslight Anthem and a few others). I mostly tried to keep it to one song per artists with a few exceptions. Outside of the top 20, I could probably put together a different list depending on my mood and the day, but here's what I have for now:

    1. (From the movie Once) - Falling Slowly
    2. Jupiter One – Countdown
    3. The Gaslight Anthem – ’59 Sound
    4. Ingrid Michaelson – Breakable
    5. The Trapeze Swinger – Iron and Wine
    6. The Killers – Mr. Brightside
    7. Josh Ritter – Kathleen
    8. Bloc Party – Kreuzberg
    9. Something Corporate – Konstantine
    10. Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson – Wintersong
    11. Anna Nalick – Breathe (2 AM)
    12. Gnarls Barkley – Crazy
    13. The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
    14. Ray LaMontagne – You Are the Best Thing
    15. Coldplay – Viva La Vida
    16. Sara Bareilles – Love Song
    17. A Fine Frenzy - Almost Lover
    18. The Decemberists - Sons and Daughters
    19. Talib Kweli – Around my Way
    20. Alicia Keys – No One
    21. Hot Hot Heat – Goodnight Goodnight
    22. Regina Spektor – Samson
    23. Snow Patrol – Run
    24. Adele – Chasing Pavements
    25. Mat Kearney – Renaissance
    26. The New Pornographers – My Rights Versus Yours
    27. Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love
    28. Ben Lee – Begin
    29. MGMT – Kids
    30. Jay-Z – Heart of the City
    31. The Strokes – 12:51
    32. Cat Power – Lived in Bars
    33. Jack’s Mannequin – Dark Blue
    34. The Old 97s – Barrier Reef

I'm certainly not as knowledgeable about music in the 00's as I would be in other decades, but here is one 44-year-old guy's picks in no particular order:

A day later, do you have a response? Or can we assume you've conceded you don't know what you're talking about?
