To knock Night Ranger is to hate me. Hence why I am mailing ticking packages to Armchair_QB and Birdscribe.

Since I was four and wearing diapers an eye patch at the time, I wasn't able to fully enjoy "Head Over Heels."

    What a great pop song.

Amazing that it peaked outside the top 10 (I think it hit no. 11), but their shelf life was already expiring by that point.

And then, as if out of thin air, a sex tape first appeared ...

(I'm probably waaayyyyy off on this)

Can we edit our lists? I need to do some shuffling.

How would I ever know? Have at it so long as its done before the deadline.

I'll post mine tomorrow. I need some time to think about this too.

The just as good, if not better, Turn To You came later that summer did it not?

Head Over Heels will be very high on my list.

Good god there aren't 5 decent songs on that entire freaking list. Further proof how bad the 80s sucked.

    (and the 90s were worse!)

Songs I'll admit I forgot about, got no MTV airplay, or no airplay on Milwaukee top 40 radio (WKTI!) ...

-- The Joe Jackson song (once I popped it up on Youtube, I remembered it ... not bad, not anywhere near the level of Stepping Out though)

-- Modern Day Deliliah (once I popped it up on Youtube, I remembered it ... then promptly forgot it again)

-- Whisper To A Scream (again, once Youtubed it jumped back to mind, not a bad song, though the lead singer looks like the love child of the lead singer of Green Day and one of the dudes from Tears For Fears)

    This is funny.

I expect the same out of the younger SJ faction when I do one from 1971, which I will.

Boffo idea, lads. Here's one Canuckistani's opinion. This chart is a couple of weeks before my 19th bnirthday. What a great, great summer for music.

    1. Whisper To A Scream (Birds Fly), Icicle Works (I know one guy who swears this is the greatest song of the 80s. Don't know about that, but it's a great fucking single and one of the ultimate one-hit wonders.)
    2. Head Over Heels, Go-Go's (For my money one of the gerat singles bands ever.)
    3. Run Runaway, Slade (Sounded great coming out of shitty tape deck in my buddy's Chevette that summer.)
    4. Dance Hall Days, Wang Chung (The one song I remember from my secdond high school prom.)
    5. Magic, Cars (Not as good as "You Might Think" but a damn good record.)
    6. When Doves Cry, Prince (second week in chart)
    7. The Longest Time, Billy Joel (Always had a thing for doo wop. This might be my fave Joel song.)
    8. I'll Wait, Van Halen
    9. What's Love Got To Do With It, Tina Turner (third week in chart)
    10. Hold Me Now, Thompson Twins
    11. I Can Dream About You, Dan Hartman
    12. Legs, ZZ Top
    13. Sister Christian, Night Ranger
    14. Oh Sherrie, Steve Perry
    15. You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want), Joe Jackson (Can't imagine a record like this charting or getting airplay today. Sigh. Guarantee PC Loadletter puts it at No. 1 if he stumbles on this thread.)
    16. Rock You Like A Hurricane, Scorpions
    17. Dancing In The Dark, Bruce Springsteen
    18. Time After Time, Cyndi Lauper
    19. Eyes Without A Face, Billy Idol
    20. The Heart Of Rock & Roll, Huey Lewis & The News

Worst: To All The Girls I've Loved Before, Julio Iglesias & Willie Nelson (I love Willie but fuck me is this heinous.)
