It’s been fun to watch so far.

    Also, hello, everyone.

Kobe and Jordan were more closed figures, so you watch to find out things you think you might not know.

Magic is an open book. Nothing new there.

Although, Darryl Dawkins would be good.

    Dr. J, too.

Being the tallest player in N.C. State history must count for something.

When we were covering the Lakers-Celtics Finals in the '80s, Charlie Pierce and I figured Nevitt had the big gig in sports. Never play, don't go too hard in practice 'cause you might hurt Kareem by accident, make six figures, then go to the clubs at night and tell women who notice you're tall, "well, yeah, I'm with the Lakers."

I listened to Vecsey recently with Rick Barry (I enjoy his candid views) and Vecsey has absolutely no problem telling you how great he was. I’m sure you all know this but it’s such unvarnished self adulation. It’s like the guy in town with the monster mansion telling you how much $$ he makes. I could care LESS!!

Vecsey says he’s upset because he has all this stuff but then says he wasn’t going to tell anything because he’s releasing his book shortly. THEN WHY GET UPSET??

I liked Pete as a fellow guy on the road, but he was full of shit in the 1980s and that hasn't changed in 40 years.

Even in the pre-internet era I know he was mostly full of shit, but I don’t think there was a regular newspaper piece I loved more than Hoop du Jour. On a tight budget in college, I persuaded the library at my school in college to buy the NY Post for him and Mushnick (and Page Six).
