In terms of how athletics is organized, from handling of the media, to classifying teams to the playoff structure to the number of classes that compete, or anything in between. Just curious as to what some situations are......

In my state, if you sold photos you took at the state tournament, you lost your photo credentials. That rule changed, but the only entity that could sell photos was from the state-contracted photo company.

Allowing teams that are 2-8 into the football playoffs
Allowing teams that are 0-fer into every other postseason
Having a basketball postseason structure where it's possible to lose 3 playoff games and still be state champions

Naming "state" champions for some sports with fewer than 10 teams participating.

At a former paper, in boys and girls basketball, the section would have their sectional tournaments and crown their champions. But, since there were only 27 or 28 schools, the tournaments were pretty short.

To fill in time before the state playoffs, they would then have the sectional division champions play each other in another tournament to show who was the overall sectional champ. Nevermind that the four division champions had state playoffs to prepare for.

I always thought they were very lucky that a star player didn't get hurt during one of the meaningless games.

Having a "regional tournament" where 4 out of 5 teams make the state tournament.

Nine-man football teams that are a co-op of three schools and still only have 10-12 players.

Ending the eligibility of athletes who participate in all-star games before the school year ends (but after their season ends) - the U.S. Army football all-star game, for example.

No practices or games can be played in-state during a two-week Christmas break. Teams can go out of state to play in basketball tournaments, though.

Not allowing photogs to shoot from floor level. Five team regionals allowing the top four teams and top five kids not on an advancing team to move on to sectionals.
