I couldn't agree with you more, as I hate those movies like Saw, Hostel or Captivity.
The Strangers isn't just a turn of the blade, though.
It's actually scary in a lot of instances.

We can't even watch the trailers in my house. Those masks freak my wife the fuck out.

I thought it was a sequel for Eyes Wide Shut at first.
    Just the thought ...

Great column in Entertainment Weekly last year that said if Hostel II didn't get an NC-17, there is absolutely no point in having the rating.

    Wow, that's Ebert-quality criticism.

I'm pumped to give this one a try. Like others have already said, those trailers are friggin scary!

I want to go see it, but I know for a fact there's not a single person I could turn to who would want to go along with me.

Looks like it will be a rental for me (and yes, I'm still not up to the DVR/Netflix/OnDemand wave yet).

How should you scream when you're being tortured and/or killed or watching your spouse be tortured and/or killed?

Yeah, calm down. There's no need to get all hysterical about it.

  10. There's such a thing as a "horror movie" these days?

I can't think of the last true horror movie that wasn't an hour-and-a-half of pure crap.

That's awfully subjective. What's your definition of a "true horror movie?"

  12. One that is not only scary, but has a little substance to go along with it ...
