Seeing as how HFA before was decided by whether the year is odd or even, I don't think it really counts enough to care.

Can anyone here find some links where Jeter did not act with style and grace in handling a situation? Including this little Wainright thing where many current athletes would puff their chests out and say something stupid.

Jeter's played for 20 years in NYC and next to ARod. It should be pretty easy to find a few examples of his acting like an ass or a dick, right? This should be a piece of cake.

Sure, he was getting his dick stroked last night, but Derek Jeter doesn't come off like he's getting his dick stroked. That's what makes him Derek Jeter.

He's the modern day Joe DiMaggio. Same stripes and nearly as good of results. If you bitch about him, I don't know what the hell you want from a ball player.

What are even talking about? This is a journalism thread. Please take these fanboi comments elsewhere.

Yeah, and then there's the fact that he's 37 years old.

I would like a grownup telecast. He didn't even belong in last night's game.

Sometime disdain for all things NYC shines through as much as fanboism.

It was a good quote. It was news.

Jeter was getting stroked too hard by TV, shocker, and Wainright spoke his mind.

But if you have not noticed, you get better ratings and more web hits by stroking your viewership. The viewership wants to think they have seen something amazing, and they did not, but TV will tell you did. Jeter had a nice game. It was not some magical moment.

The game meant more when every team would not eventually play every other team.

There used to be magic in Kershaw facing Miggy because you knew other than a World Series, this was it. Now, everyone sees everyone else.

The All Star game is a showcase. I have no problem giving the nod to a guy who people want to see rather than a guy who had a hot two weeks to bump his average to .310 and will be soon mired down at .260 once he comes back to Earth.

Do you have any journalism thoughts at all here?

    Really?

Shit, 75 percent of journalists are selling what credibility they have and following the Fox News and MSNBC business model for sucking the dick of their viewers and doling up the bullshit they want to hear. It happened last night.

Journalism is on a not-so-slow death march. If you can't see that, then you will probably will be surprised when our Chinese or Indian overlords take over, because, like journalism, America is circling the toilet because the lever has been pulled. Every dynasty falls. We are just expediting ours.
