The Rockets have won 19 in a row. Why don't you care?

Will this streak matter a damn if they don't advance past the first round?

I think it does, because it was a remarkable run. Stating the obvious here, but this kind of run doesn't happen every season, and for that reason it does matter.

    No ... and there's a great chance they won't.

  4. Hell, there's a chance they won't even make the playoffs.

The Rockets have gotten blown out two nights in a row.
A historic streak has been reduced to rubble.

They had a major hangover tonight against an excellent New Orleans team which is tied for 1st in the West right now. I'd wait on making any decisions as to whether this was a flash in the pan until after the Rockets' back-to-back against the Warriors and Suns on Friday-Saturday.

Regular season doesn't mean dick. Just get into the top eight in your conference.

It would be a lot more interesting if they expanded to 32 teams and rotated between them, and just did two 16-team four-game-guarantee tournaments a week, for four months. That would be 64 games.

Play the other 18 games with a home-and-home with your 3 division mates (there being 8 divisions, NFL-style) and 9 games against a team whose strength is based on last year's results (again, NFL-style). Take the overall record, and voila.
