Excellent ESPN.com piece on former Kentucky QB Jared Lorenzen:

Pretty poignant stuff for anyone who has ever struggled with their weight.

Hearing word that Dorial Green-Beckham's appeal for eligibility at OU was denied.

The NCAA announced it, so I'd say the "word" you're hearing is pretty solid:

So I'm guessing he will be able to concentrate on his studies and play next year? (who am I kidding?)

Colin Cowherd has spent most of the second quarter of the EWU-SHSU game talking about the College Football Playoff. I feel bad for people who tuned in to actually watch the game itself.

I feel bad for people who have to listen to Colin Cowherd for an entire game. FCS has had a playoff in place for a long time, so I hope he was talking about THAT playoff, where SHSU lost twice in the final and EWU won it all three years ago.

I don't feel sorry for anyone who willingly listens to Cowturd. The mute button is your friend.

True. And most schools stream their radio feed online for those wanting a hometown angle but who live elsewhere.

The clubhouse leader for my favorite college football story of the year is out of South Carolina: Gerald Dixon and Gerald Dixon Jr. --- half-brothers born five months apart --- are both listed as starters on the Gamecocks' defensive line:

Their dad (also named Gerald) played at South Carolina in the early 1990s, a few years before he knocked up two women and convinced both of them to name their sons after him.

Every stat crew across the SEC just shot a hobo and doesn't know why.
