The why is pretty damned easy to understand. Get rid of Jackson and his thug behavior.

Learn to use the quote function properly, Chee.

Jackson's inablity to behave like a rational human being is why he got traded. Yea, it was a bad trade for the Pacers and helped the Warriors out tremendously on the court. Course now they have a guy who likes to fire off his gun with no thought about who it might hit.

That's all that needed to be said.

You won't be saying that when he fires off his gun into a crowd and actually kills somebody this time.

I can understand getting rid of Jackson. I can't understand getting two useless players in return.

    ... is Dirk Nowitzki.

I hope you haven't bet the ranch on that. The Mavericks look and sound defeated already, nobody more than Dirk, who is showing once again that when it comes down to it, he's not a guy who can carry a team. The Mavs lost the Finals last season because Miami's superstar played like a superstar while Dallas' was just another good player. The same thing is happening here, just earlier. And without Dirk as the centerpiece, the Mavs don't have nearly enough firepower to win this series, let alone the title.

The Mavericks have let Nellie and the Warriors get into their heads, and they're playing scared. I'll be surprised if they win tonight, but even if they do, they aren't winning this series.

Oh, yeah, and the Mavs weren't denied after being up 2-0 in the Finals. They collapsed after being up 2-0 in the Finals.

    There's a difference.

Oh sure they will. And Bush will appoint Fenian as Attorney General.

    Chris Mullin/Don Nelson/Baron Davis/Stephen Jackson.

Yes and Larry Bird. Okay that was a gift that we in the Bay Area never thought would be forthcoming, two more athletic players and for less payroll commitments. However, Al Harrington has come up very small and was definitely overrated (does not finish very strong or rebound for a guy 6'9") but Jackson has played with maturity and a calmness.
