Oh, liberal Times, how I now loathe thee!
From Hell's heart I stab at thee and curseth your name all because of this e-mail.

But I didn't subscribe to the Times. The girlfriend subscribed me as a Christmas gift — that I didn't know about it. So it was a surprise. Fingers crossed she comes through with the iPhone.

The following is the e-mail I just sent to customer care.

Maybe your g/f shouldn't have included your email when she applied.

I love how you refer to her as "the girlfriend." :)

Friends don't let friends read the NYT.

My wife gets it delivered on Sundays, to my eternal shame.

Despite the GF having prepaid for a year and being told the Times delivers to my burg.
This came in the mail today, Christmas Eve.

The letter goes on, but that's the main point. No word on the refund. A year of Times home delivery is pretty expensive.
    Fuckers.

Girlfriend got her credit card bill.
The Times has charged for an entire year's worth of subscription* after being told a month ago that they wouldn't be delivering the paper.
I've already fired off an angry e-mail to the customer service office. I'll post the response.
But so far, I'd give the Times a big fucking F for customer service.

*Holy Krikey's is it expensive. She could have bought me a new netbook and I could have surfed the Times's site for free and still would have had hundreds of dollars left over.

$13.99/month on the kindle. Including Sunday.

Get a Kindle and get Times on line for 13.99 per month.
Its the green way to go.

I just said that. Why is yours $12.99? Mine is 13.99. Go check, I have to know.

My mistake - it is $13.99 / Month
The cost of 3 hard copy Sunday Times.

Kindle, netbook, they are about the same in terms of price.
Both are cheaper than home delivery and by a lot.

Regardless, getting billed for home delivery after being denied home delivery sucks monkey balls in terms of customer service.
If you say you can't do it, then you don't send a bill for a service you weren't able to render.

Boomster, the Sunday Times cost $6 here, while during the week it is $2 a day. So buying it at the newsstand will set you back a little under a grand for the year.
Home delivery is around $700 for the year, assuming you don't get any of the myriad of discounts they offer and I'd guess most people do.
