Never had a W against the Indians. Nice.

Had been brutally bad against them: 0-6, 4.98 ERA in 10 starts.

AP write-thru says it's the first Angels no-hitter since 1984, which is incorrect. 1990.

Santana's first major league start was against the Indians. The first four batters hit for the cycle. He had never beaten them in his career.
Only one big defensive play, 2B Kendrick made a diving stop up the middle in sixth inning.
First batter reached on a error by Aybar, stole second, went to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.

The one in 1990, two pitchers combined no-hitter. In 2008, two Angels combined on a no-hitter against the Dodgers but lost the game.

    2008 isn't an official no-hitter. Only 8 innings.

I thought they had changed the rules some years ago to where it also had to be a shutout to be considered a no-hitter?
Seems silly, especially in this case, but it was part of an effort to wipe things like the Andy Hawkins' no-no, Pascual Perez's five-inning perfect game and things like that off the record books.

No, the rule states that a no-hitter simply has to go nine innings - since Hawkins' only pitched eight innings, that's the difference.
