If we were really concerned about securing airports and planes, we would've hired the Israelis. Those guys leave no doubt that if somebody tries something, they will get dead in a hurry.

This would probably be a good time to point out that it was the Dems who screamed for federalizing airport security. Given public sentiment at the time the GOP didn't really have a choice but to go along with give the DNC a chance to set up another one of its pet public unions.

All we got for that was the same shitty security we had pre-9/11 but now they're government employees. Yippee!

Imagine how shitty the airport security would be if the workers had just eight days of training and paid its workers just $10.50 an hour.

Those are prisons, which have, as you put it, the depraved animals.

What the NYT is highlighting is the shittyness of these halfway houses, which are supposed to have inmates who are somewhat rehabilitated. These houses are also supposed to be having drug and alcohol counseling, and, are supposed to place an emphasis on their employees safety. From what is described from this place, the only thing management cares about is making money.

Based on what I've seen probably no worse than it is now. A high school dropout is a high school dropout.

Most TSA agents make a hell of a lot more than $10.50 an hour. Around here, it's about $17.50 an hour to start, and I definitely do not live in one of the more expensive parts of the country.

The guy who works at Golden Triangle Regional Airport (my favorite airport of all-time) might make that, but it's probably a safe bet the guys at JFK, O'Hare, LAX etc... make a lot more than that.

My argument against privatization is more about accountability than anything else.

And they all suck at their job.

There aren't really enough Israeli airport security personnel to staff even one major U.S. hub. They are awesome, but it's easier to be awesome when your area of responsibility is quite small.

And there are plenty of examples of privatized facilities that are run much better, much more efficiently and are much safer than government-run facilities.

But don't let facts get in the way of a good socialistic rant.

You mean Gladiator School in Idaho?

Or in Arizona, where data shows that private prisons can cost more than public prisons:

Could you at least provide one shining example? Because I'm not so sure there is one.
