The Nicaragua Canal

    Nicaragua has granted construction rights and a 100-year operating concession to a Chinese company to build an alternative to the Panama Canal. The route would be large enough to allow passage for mega-container ships that can't navigate the Panama passage.

    That's where they originally wanted to build what became the Panama Canal if I remember my history.

    Yeah, I seem to recall that. It was supposed to be an easier construction pathway at the time too.

    Will China just give it back to Nicaragua like Carter did with the Panama Canal?

    It's really too bad Sobotka couldn't get his lobbyist to push this kind of deal thru.

    Fine, let China do all the work. We can swoop in and seize the canal at any time.
