Rumors are swirling about Tom Hiddleston pimping himself out to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond. The rumors have also touched on Tom Hardy and Idris Elba.

Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba … who should be the next James Bond?

Who do you think should get the role? Another name floating around is Michael Fassbender, who I think is one of the best actors working today. Elba would be interesting, but neither Hiddleston nor Hardy do much for me.

I always thought Cary Elwes would make a pretty good Bond, too, but his window is probably closed at this point.

Idris Elba would be a great choice.

Why would Tom Hardy even be interested? He's demonstrated way more range already than most of the guys who've played Bond and ended up typecast in similar roles. I'm a huge Bond fan, but the series has fallen off a cliff after Casino Royale. The last few have been mediocre (Spectre) to downright bad (Quantum of Solace).

  4. One of the Bond franchise honchos trashed Hardy as the next Bond, pointing to the movie he did playing the twin English criminals.
I can't recall the name of the movie, it was one I wanted to see, but I understand it got some shitty reviews and bombed.

FWIW, IMDB has Daniel Craig listed as rumored for a future Bond film. Much as I like him in that role, they sort of wrapped his character with Spectre, and Craig made no bones about wanting to step away from it.

Maybe it's time we had a female Bond. Emily Blunt, anyone?

Emma Watson or Charlize Theron would be my pick.

I saw it, it's called Legend, which is a pretty stupid name for that movie. It was entertaining enough, he plays real-life twins named the Crays, one of whom was bipolar. Not his best material, but I certainly wouldn't point to it as trash or some disqualification for such range-demanding material as playing James Bond...

Elba just signed on to play Roland of Gilead, the Gunslinger in "The Dark Tower," which will run across multiple films (and possibly multiple platforms), so I think Bond would be difficult (if not impossible) for him to pull off from a scheduling perspective.

Hardy doesn't seem like a good fit for the role. Fassbender would probably make a better Bond villain than Bond himself, but he might be the most logical choice, if he wants it.
