    Larry Joe Bird.
Walks away from Knight and IU, collects garbage for a living. Dad hangs himself. Bird goes back to ISU.
    The rest is history.

I've been thinking it's time for a movie about Kareem. Early life is interesting -- his parents were fascinating people, themselves. High school at Power, dealing with some racism, especially from his coach who he thought of as a second father. As a HS kid, rubbing elbows with NBA's Wilt and NYC playground legends. College -- Wooden. Conversion to Islam. Friendship with Bruce Lee, leaving Milwaukee, rebirth with Lakers. Lost home to fire. Accountant ran off with money. Eventually tries coaching. Interesting life (though, to Hollywood-ize, you'd probably finish with the Lakers). And, man what a soundtrack it would be. The best jazz ever, since KAJ's such a jazz nut.

With Kareem, you also have his appearance in one of the Conan movies, as well as a role in Airplane!.

With Bird, his role as a deadbeat dad.

Ted Williams could have the championship-level fishing exploits, and the bizarre happenings post-life.

To me, Jim Brown is a larger-than-life figure with so many compelling issues surrounding his life, not all of them heroic or positive.

For Jackie Robinson fans, there are two movies that show sides to him. One is Soul of the Game (which actually focused more on Paige) and the other is The Court Marshall of Jackie Robinson.

Had heard that something on Layne was coming.

It's be great, if they held nothing back.

    Ken Burns should do Ruth.

I can't conceive of Hollywood NOT f--king it up.
