    For being a lead guy.... it's inarguable.

    Brutal, waterboard-caliber stuff.

    Sandomir is right, but really, couldn't his arguments against Gumball been stronger than simply saying he used phrases like "far side" too often?

    I like listening to Bryant Gumbel -- when I want to fall asleep. The guy makes the game sound like it's so boring. He never changes the volume or tone of his voice. Then there's the problem of not knowing what's going on in the game, and getting the teams and players names wrong every other play. But besides that, he's awesome.

    Vague calls aside, the thinness of Gumbel's voice jumps out. The demands of radio and TV are different, but any play-by-play announcer (male or female) needs a command of the language and a commanding voice.
