They shot the exteriors at Petra. I believe they were among the first Westerners to ever see the site.

The interior was a set, so Petra's onscreen for about 2 minutes total.

Absolutely stunning on the big screen. I was a kid, but it blew my mind at the time.

Oh, so they actually shot at Petra? I didn't know that.
One of these days I'll actually watch that movie. Just haven't gotten around to it.

The Colosseum was so multi-purpose it was used for mock sea battles. If that's not at least semi-wondrous, I'm not sure what is.

I want to amend my list of modern wonders.
The Santa Cruz Mystery Spot has got to be on there, and the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose.

    Surely you can't be serious.

I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.

If the work of Fischer Black, Myron Scholes and Robert Merton is not a wonder of the world, I don't know what is.

Nevermind that Scholes and Merton were part of the largest financial failure in history.

Easter Island has always facinated the shit out of me. It's amazing how civilization died out on that island, and even more amazing that there are still survivors.

For pure difficulty of building it, I don't think anything surpasses the Great Wall. But I think Machu Picchu and the Pyramids are on the next level by themselves.

Machu Picchu some pretty wonderous sh*t.
That's like building the pyramids on top of a mountain with no roads or paths big enough to get the stone up there.
