The NCAA injury stats story

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by TopOfTheCircle, May 23, 2007.

  1. I haven't seen anyone doing a follow-up on this.

There are about 15 years' worth of data and about 15 sports involved.

The AP's 500-word story? "Study Says Contact is Common Cause in Injuries." Well, duh! (And the tag quote adds NOTHING to the story.)

I got a copy of one of the sub-studies and it recommends fundamental changes in one of the athletic endeavors tracked.

Anyone know if other radical changes in some sports (banning metal bats, padding ice hockey boards, banning all hitting in football) are recommended?

A lot of what the NCAA puts out is best ignored or made into a brief. This might fit that category.
