    It was my job to work on those shipboard teletypes. To my knowledge, they only printed in caps. The computer system we had aboard ship also only typed in caps. Back in my day, it didn't matter how you wanted to send a message, that's just the way the equipment worked.

    Reading message traffic when I was in the nation's oldest seagoing service was always a pain because of that. All caps gives me a headache.
