Drink Coke non-stop and you are on the fast track to type-2 diabetes.

A mighty big asterisk. Still, an interesting consumer trends story. When I worked a regular morning job I often had a Coke in the morning. I think it's more about getting the blood sugar up than about the caffeine, especially for those who tend to eat a late dinner. I would be happy about this if my financial interests were tied to the soft drink industry, or as football_bat pointed out, the diabetes treatment industry.

I don't think I could drink a soda before noon. I'm not a coffee guy, either, though. I prefer juice or water in the morning.

I cannot abide having soda or coffee in my mouth first thing in the morning. Water...give me lots of it, though.

After I've been up for an hour? Then the coffee's fine.

I'm glad there are others out there. Diet Coke is my morning coffee.

For whatever reason, I've never acquired a taste for coffee.

  11. Myself, also.
The Diet Coke for the ride to the office is one of life's enduring pleasures.

I read it, and I'm not saying the conclusions are wrong or that soda is by any means good for you, but the author of that article is also the author of Left Out! How Liberals Re-Elected George Bush.

I wasn't expecting any fly-ass New England Journal of Medicine shit, but I wasn't expecting the Michael Medved of nutritional health either.

I'm going to go drink a 32 ounce of Dr Pepper out of spite.
