The microbeer thing

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Dick Whitman, Feb 1, 2012.

  1. I know a lawyer who opened a microbrew - New River Ale.
He and a small grooup of friends tried it in the mid-1990s. They went under in three years. A restaurant bought their equipment and added the microbrew to their place. 15 years later its still doing well. In addition to selling it at their place there are a few other outlets in the city and a few other cities that carry the brews.
    Pretty good stuff too.

Half Acre makes the best beer in Chicago, hands down IMO.

Interesting. I haven't had much of their beer. Any favorites?

Where do you rate some of the other Chicago beers?

Daisy Cutter is a phenomenal pale ale- I'd drink it every day if I were in Chi-town. Everything else I've tried from them has been excellent (though admittedly I've probably only sampled seven or eight of their brews). Their Captain Fantasy saison collab with Short's was outstanding.

One of the things on my bucket list is to be an owner of a bar; Part, full.....doesn't matter.
