The meat spectrum

One of my friend says she once ate rabbit in Central America but wasn't told what it was until she had finished and commented on how delicious the Cornish hen was.

How far down the meat spectrum will you knowingly go:

    1. I am The Big Ragu
    2. Fish
    3. Crustacean (shrimp, clams, lobsters)
    4. Mollusk (mussels, scallop, squid, conch, octopus)
    5. Chicken
    6. Cow
    7. Pig
    8. Duck, goose or pheasant
    9. Deer and bison
    10. Intestine or liver
    11. Ostrich
    12. Rabbit
    13. Alligator and snake
    14. Kangaroo and other non-carnivorous mammals
    15. Testicle and penis
    16. Lion and other carnivores
    17. Horse
    18. Cat
    19. Dog
    20. Human

I'm leaning toward stopping after No. 14. I might give Rocky Mountain oysters a try, though.

I have to stop at 10 just because the whole intestine thing grosses me out. But I know I've had ostrich and I think I've had alligator.

Would you eat liver? I think liver and intestines are much more common than anything below them.

I'd stop at 11, I have no idea why but I can't picture myself eating rabbit.

Not a fan of liver and don't knowingly have any, but can't be sure that pate hasn't crossed my lips at some point.

I just switched rabbit and ostrich because I realized eating ostrich is probably more like eating any other bird, while rabbit is like eating a small fuzzy friend.

I'd add though that not only do I think ostrich is more palatable than intestines or liver, I also think it's quite common. Depending on geography, maybe as common as deer.

And bison is my favorite steak. Like it way more than beef.

I think you should switch 14 and 15. A lot of people have probably eaten testicles of some variety. Maybe add brain to the list...

I have a hard time believing ostrich is more common than deer. Even in Africa, they're chowing on gazelles.

Not everything that goes in someone's mouth is then eaten.

Is rabbit more acceptable if it has a pancake on top?

    I've gone down to 13. I would try 14. I wouldn't go 15.

    Balls are tasty.

I guarantee you more posters have swallowed a testicle than a kangaroo pouch.
