    Oh, he didn't. HW bush was ok, I suppose.

    Reagan's presidency I view as mostly a disaster out of which bush had to raise taxes and Clinton got a huge bump with the Internet economy. We got a full on blast of juice for the drug war, too, which has really served us well.

    It was in all the morning papers, and Hillary, the smartest woman in the world, and the SoS, had no idea what Mark Penn was referring to.

    Baker has always seemed to be an extraordinarily capable and decent man. Deaver was a gifted media guy. Edwin Meese was a despicable clown who ended up resigning in disgrace.

    Bottom line, the book excerpt published in Salon was an accurate portrayal of the person conservatives consider their hero.

    I note that nobody seems to disagree with that portrayal either. Reagan was ill-informed, incurious and lazy.
