Finalists were Anaheim, Louisville, Memphis and New Orleans.

Another franchise in Chicago is a pipe dream. The Bulls (and Hawks) ain't letting anybody else in the United Center, and the only other remotely NBA-adequate arena in the area is the Rosemont Horizon, which is close to 30 years old and makes Key Center in Seattle look like the Starship Enterprise.

Oklahoma City is now the benchmark for all small market NBA franchises to succeed. If you can sell out the Ford Center on a nightly basis in this town, then you can do it anywhere.

Town with just over a half million people.

Wrong...Kansas City is making a shit ton of money by NOT having a permanent tenant. They don't have to cave with a sucker deal to lure an NHL or NBA team and every major concert plays at least one it not two shows there because the schedule is always open.

I think someone should start a Sons of Sam Lacy message board.

The Hornets never should have left Charlotte in the first place. Fuck George Shinn and David Stern.

So in the past decade we have two relocation failures with the Hornets and Grizzlies losing money. Nice decisions relocation comittie.

Why in the hell would Chicago be anywhere close to this discussion? Because the Bulls draw well? I can't imagine that you can just plop a second franchise down in the city - or the suburbs - and expect people to drop strong allegiances built over the course of six NBA titles.

Unfortunately, yes. Classic example of a once very loyal fan base getting spoiled and then bailing on the team when it got bad again.

Heisley lives/lived in Chicago and considered putting the Grizzlies at the Horizon, before settling on Memphis. I doubt the owners would have approved Chicago.
