But I thought they held the funeral a few weeks ago ... like when this thread was started. What was that?

This is why we called it a FuneralFest. Any funeral exceeding the length of Passover, it's a Fest. Exceed the length of Lent, it's a Funeralpalooza.

There's also a designation for funerals exceeding Ramadan, but it's complicated.

So FuneralStock is only a three-day event?

Only three days, but everyone is still talking about it 40 years later.

I guess the burial got a late start.

I thought some of what I read here was over the top for a burial:

-- Revs. Al & Jesse showing up on cue.

-- Clifton Davis singing "Never Can Say Goodbye."

-- Jackson's kids putting a crown on top of the coffin.

These and other details can be found here,

if like me, you avoided the live coverage.

I refused to watch a single second of it. I'm still convinced they didn't do it Saturday, because they wanted the media attention on themselves. Assholes.

Clifton Davis is still around? My gosh, the last time I saw him, Sherman Hemsley was making a fool of him on "Amen".

I didn't realize Clifton Davis wrote "Never Can Say Goodbye" - great song. Also thought CNN airing the helicopter coverage I saw of the funeral was kind of tacky.

Was the song performed in memory of Jackson or his decomposing flesh?

Davis has made a nice coin off the royalties of that song. He also has a couple other to his credit.

So you are saying that the Jackson family predicted Kennedy's death? That's what I gather from your statement considering the fact that the family announced the postponement four days prior to Kennedy's passing.

The story I originally read about the postponement made it seem as if it were a last minute decision that came the day after Kennedy passed.
