    Publicity grab.

    This project started in 2013 and has been building ever since. The organization donated $1 million -- which it may or may not have done regardless of the Ice Bucket Challenge, and which may or may not have been (but probably wasn't) the difference in getting the research to this level.

    Would be like saying the Royals won the World Series because of the Johnny Cueto trade.

    I guess that's true if you don't believe the Royals' seven runs in Game 2 would have been enough for another starter.

    Anyway, the larger point.
