Salary requirements should always scare someone off.

They were publishing a free commuter-targeted tabloid, competing against the well-entrenched Union Leader. It's still around, but their ambitious plans (they were hiring a sportswriter six months or so ago) seem scaled down; they have revamped their flag to do away with the color. Must be trying to save on ink costs.
