Jesus, I'm glad somebody finally mentioned Elvis Aron Presley.

Yeah, he got smothered under rhinestones and sequins in the Seventies, and for most of the Sixties he was just phoning it in, but when Elvis was Elvis, well, goddamn.

"That Elvis, man, he is all there is. There ain't no more. Everything starts and ends with him. He wrote the book." -- Bruce Springsteen.

As far as Lennon and McCartney, they were both great; together, they were incredible.
The conventional wisdom is that Paul was the sweet-voiced crooner and John the gut-wrenching rocker, but then McCartney rips out "Back In The U.S.S.R." and "Helter Skelter" and John delivers "Julia" and "Woman."

BTW, Journey will eventually get into the R&R HOF. As the era of real album-rock artists passes out of the 25-year window, the selectors will continue to go back to the Seventies and Eighties for groups which may have slipped through the cracks for "Veteran's Committee" selections.
