    Lythgoe was a dancer for a long time. I'm sure he's more than accustomed to gay people.

    The problem was that neither man cared to dance with anyone but the other (which doesn't fly in this competition) and that they kept switching roles in the dance, which created chaos and confusion amongst all the judges, not just Lythgoe.
