The exclamation marks forced me to post this

    Well, it's not like that's a rarely seen mistake. I'll bet at least 50 percent of the time the reference is used in U.S. newspapers, it's wrong.

    The funny thing is:
    1. I've made that same mistake.
    2. I've used "chomping at the bit" instead of "champing..."

    Thank God both happened before SportsJournalists.com. I'd be swallowing my PreferOn tube right now.

    Both mistakes were an editor's mistake, not Herr Jannace's. An editor hung him out to dry on not plugging in the stats. An editor (maybe the same one, maybe another) made him look stupid with the "chomping" hed.
