Yes, me, technical Luddite though I may be, recently got an Android phone. Have just started playing with apps, but had already noticed that the battery drains reeeall fast. Any tips on apps, or how to save a bit of juice, or any ideas on possible carrying cases would be welcome.

And if anyone starts a thread titled "Dooley has an Android phone," I will DB your ass.

I don't have one (yet), but probably will within a month since I'm due for an upgrade with a new contract.

Anyway, I believe if you leave the apps running in the background, they drain the battery a lot faster.

Once you break in the battery by draining and fully recharging it for awhile, the life should increase noticeably. I used to use task killers and all that stuff, but the phone seems to last all day now, whatever I do.

The only way I've ever killed the battery was by playing music all night without having turned on the power strip the charger is connected to. Kind of a problem when I was also relying on the phone to be my alarm clock...

Same. When I first got mine a few weeks ago, the battery was just terrible. Recently, though, I've noticed it getting better and better. I downloaded a couple battery saver apps, but I'm probably going to uninstall them and see how it goes. Or not. As long as my battery keeps getting better, I might let it ride.

I've heard mixed reviews on the whole "apps running in the background drain your battery" issue. When I first got my phone, I force quit everything and it was just a pain in the ass to keep doing it over and over. I haven't done it in a while and my battery has gotten better. So...I'm not sure I believe that force quitting helps save your battery. The operating system is meant to run a bunch of apps. That's the whole point of it.

Anyway...stick with it. It'll get better. If not, get on Amazon and get one of those 35 mps (or whatever stupid letters they are) batteries.

As for a case, I just went to the Verizon store and got a leather case for like $10. Love it.

Android is the one that allows porn, right?

I wouldn't have the slightest idea. A friend says yes, however.

Why can't you get porn on an iPhone? Does the Safari browser block certain sites?
