    Ain't that the truth. I've got six Indian casinos within 30 miles of me.

    I am generally loathe to enter any gaming establishment. But judging from the thousands to tens of thousands of vehicles parked at any large Indian casino at almost all hours, I can only imagine the untold billions that might have been spend in Nevada prior to the advent of Indian gaming.

    As for whether Indian gaming or Nevada gaming is more destructive to individual Americans and various American cultures and groups -- that's another interesting talking point.

    I'd be curious to know how much of an impact it really has. I've set foot inside an Indian casino exactly once, and I will likely jump from the top of the Empire State Building before I do it again. The people gambling there appeared to be exclusively retirees blowing nickels and dimes from their Social Security checks. I don't know how many of them would make the trip to Vegas, and if they did they're not leaving the nickel slots.

    Having said that, I have two casinos within a 5 mile drive of my house and one of them just opened a few months ago, so I assume they're doing just fine.
