Let's see, you could hit up some big papers (DMN, FW S-T, KC Star, etc.) and find some...But it's too late and I'm too tired to do that.

Um, but in a sports realm, my "effin' studs" are (yes, this shit's shocking... ;D)
    1.) NFL - LT
    2.) MLB - Pujols
    3.) NBA - Dwayne Wade
    4.) Boxing - Jermain Taylor

I figured calling someone an "effin" stud meant someone had the IQ of a 2x4. ;D

I think a 26-year-old (or younger) columnist or major pro/college beat writer at a major paper would be an effin stud.

In most cases. But not all the time.

I'll leave it right there. ;D

The way I've seen it used around here, it seems that an 'effin stud is someone who:

    A. Is under the age of 30.
    B. Is covering or is one heartbeat away from covering a major beat.
    C. Is a very good writer.
    D. Happens to have a buddy/admirer or two here who will pimp him/her on this Web site for all to see.

Okay. So in the hierarchy of sports writers - newspaper, web, magazine - we're saying the effin' stud lives near, but not at, the top of the food chain. Something like this, perhaps:

    1.)

    2.)

    3.)

    4.) Effin' Stud

    5.)

    6.)

    7.)

    8.)

    9.)

10.) Agate Monkey, Tin Cup Chronicle, Tin Cup, Colorado Elev: 9400 ft. Pop: 2

By role, not necessarily by name, how would you fill in the rest?

I think my definition of effin' stud, given newspapers' penny-pinching ways, would be:

    Confuses opportunity with skill.

That's the best definition of "fuckin' stud."
