Lions release Kevin Jones and Kalimba Edwards.

What identity is this team going to have next year with a core backfield of Jon Kitna and Tatum Bell?

And which team will be picking up Jones this week? The Raiders? The Texans- or did they get someone that I missed?

    Your thoughts?

The same identity for all the Millen years. A shitty franchise and a shitty team.

Maybe they'll make a play for Shaun Alexander. Maybe they'll get him. Maybe he'll succeed there and lead them to the playoffs.
And maybe, just maybe, hell will freeze over.

Alexander was the only person who came to mind, but I don't see why you would dump one injured guy for an older, more expensive injured guy.

They're cutting them to make room for some more receivers.

Who needs a running back when you can play five wide receivers at one time.

    Prediction:

The Lions draft Mario Manningham next month, saying he was the best player available.
    Lions finish 2-14 this year.
Fire Marinelli and give Millen a contract extension, saying he's got the team on the right track.
Lions then get the No. 1 draft pick in 2009 and trade it to Houston for that vaunted prospect Mario Williams, who demands a trade after sitting out half the year with a knee injury.

No, they are the run and slash now that all they've done this offseason is sign former Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I find it hard to believe they couldnt get some sort of draft pick for Jones. Now I can only imagine what happens next year when Roy Williams is due for a new contract.

Millen will probably trade him for a Dominoes Pizza and Kyle Eckel.
