So the Democratic-led House passes a bill to sue OPEC for not producing more oil. At the same time, the Democratic-led House refuses to allow drilling for oil where we know it exists in huge quantities in the US.

Seriously, you can't make this up. It's beyond parody.

And before you all try to defend this by noting 103 Republicans voted yes, please not that Republicans are not the ones refusing to allow drilling in the US.

    BTW,

I totally agree that suing OPEC is jaw-dropping stupid. It's more of the same: blame everyone else except the people responsible for the high prices: the US population.

It' our fault. Stop trying to blame brown people in the Middle East, stop trying to blame enviromentalists or govt. conspiracies.

We've been warned about this for decades. Now, the reckoning is upon us. Deal with it America.

Old_tony come on. They're not refusing to allow drilling in the U.S. They're refusing to allow drilling in an area that would basically kill all the life in the area which is environmentally protected. You're better than this. Show it.

Drilling in ANWR is a non-starter. It is like a dead horse being beaten repeatedly by people that have no knowledge of the situation. It is a true strawman.

Drilling more in Saudi Arabia is also not really necessary. The price could drop, but it doesn't.

Looks to me like antitrust law. Especially since the story actually uses the phrase "antitrust law."

Deceptive thread title, deceptive opening salvo.

o_t, just because Fenian's gone doesn't mean the Themocrats aren't going to perform their due SportsJournalists.com diligence.

And one 'c' and one 's' in 'hypocrisy.'

Those magical oil fields in ANWR will give us $1/gallon gas!

    Damn you Democrats! Damn you!

That's an absolutely steaming pile of bull. Of course, this comes from the same people who said the Alaskan pipeline would kill everything, too. Instead the wildlife around the pipeline thrives even more than pre-pipeline.

    And your answer to this...

This is an older story, but things haven't changed much in the last four years:
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4542853/

WASHINGTON - Opening an Alaska wildlife refuge to oil development would only slightly reduce America’s dependence on imports and would lower oil prices by less than 50 cents a barrel, according to an analysis released Tuesday by the Energy Department.

The report, issued by the Energy Information Administration, or EIA, said that if Congress gave the go-ahead to pump oil from Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the crude could begin flowing by 2013 and reach a peak of 876,000 barrels a day by 2025.

But even at peak production, the EIA analysis said, the United States would still have to import two-thirds of its oil, as opposed to an expected 70 percent if the refuge’s oil remained off the market.

I'd love to see a source on this.

Might want to look at those fraudulent numbers again, considering they were based on oil at $63 a barrel and gas at $2 a gallon.
