He's not mentally ill, nor are most people who support the death penalty.

What police academy accepts you after you have twice failed the psych test? Must be a great place to live. I have several friends who are cops, probably know at least 20 LEO, and don't know one department where you can fail the psych test twice and then get hired.

You sure he didn't fail the civil service or chief's test?
Highly doubtful you could twice fail the psych test.

He failed the tests in different places - first in Virginia where he graduated college, then Vermont where he hoped to move (he's a hunter and outdoorsman). He moved home, took the test and got accepted. As he put it, "I don't have empathy, no regrets and I'm an asshole. Apparently, they don't like that in Virginia."

    Any other questions?

EDIT: For the record, I'm not bagging on the guy. He's among my best friends, attended my wedding and our kids go to preschool together. That's just who he is. He makes no apologies for it and neither do I.

As I noted, he moved home and got hired by his hometown department (neighboring town, technically, but who really cares, right?). I'm sure if someone wanted to sleuth it out, they could figure out where I live (though I can't imagine a reason anyone would care enough to bother), but I don't think I've ever explicitly stated it on this site. As such, I'll continue to maintain a smidgen of anonymity and not disclose where that hometown is.

This conversation is not advancing the thread at all, so I'll ask you, in an effort to clarify what it is exactly you're getting at - why do you ask where my buddy was hired?

Because if he twice failed a psych test he should not be a cop.

    Any other questions?
