I still have the 1978 and 1979 Pittsburgh Steeler Media Guides at my house. I think they were bought at a local McDonalds when I was nine or 10.

  3. That's the shit you have to call and request they ship to you. You gotta love it.

A couple of years ago, Kentucky put out a basketball recruiting guide and a separate, smaller book with all of the stuff we actually use -- bios, all-time results, records, etc.

    Ecofriendly? Sure.
Computer friendly? Depends on the operator.

But why eliminate a cash cow if media guides are profitable in fandom?

Doesn't make revenue sense to me.

Ohio State's SPRING PRACTICE media guide was bigger, glossier and flashier than most mid-major schools regular season media guides.

Because your sales from the one sports media guide that people actually want to buy has to cover the expense of printing media guides for all 20+ of your varsity sports. Can have any inequality, see. I imagine this might still be profitable for a few schools, but I doubt so for the majority.

Mucho overkill. If that's the case, why not just print two separate publications: one for the recruits and fans, and one for the working media that isn't like 30 extra pounds to lug around?
