    Guy buys a Groupon for the Gap. He then discovers it has an expiry date, which he says violates Ontario law.

    So he launches a class-action suit for $100 million in damages plus $10 million in punitive
    damages.

    I wouldn't bet against this lawsuit going somewhere -- there are similar ones in Illinois, Florida, Minnesota, California and D.C.

    Many states make it illegal to have expiration dates on gift cards/certificates. If the Groupon deal is looked upon that way -- money already spent -- this could be a major headache. At the very least it's likely to change the way they do business.

    Isn't there a human rights commission in Ontario that can sort this out?
