Don't offer me anything. I'll tell you what I want, OK?

When I worked at Taco Bell in college, we'd try to not to laugh in the faces of (mostly) women who would come in, say "I'm on a diet," and then order the taco salad.

The deep-fried shell of that thing probably had more calories (and fat) than any other item on the menu. Then add the beans, ground beef, guacamole, sour cream ...

Does anyone here remember the Taco Light?

    Holy fuck, was it good.

Of course, don't forget the "Light Menu" Taco Bell did in the mid 90s.
I worked there then and it was awful...we had double the items to make, and of course...someone would screw up and put regular cheese or sour cream on a "light" taco and we would have to toss it and make it again.

It's not on the menu anymore but rumor has it that you can still order the Beefy Tostada. It was a mess to eat but so fucking good.

This Penn & Teller episode shows an interesting experiment with taco salads. People ate one that they were told was from some local healthy place and one from Taco Bell.
People thought the one from the local place had fewer calories and was healthier.
    It was the same salad.

Gimme a couple of Double Decker Supremes from Taco Bell or a couple of double cheeseburgers and fries (with fucking SALT) from McDonald's and I'm good for a while. I normally cook for myself, but I am just fine going to one of these joints for a quick meal every now and then.

Penn & Teller did a lot of debunking of popular beliefs (the organic vs. non-organic one comes to mind). It was fun to watch. I especially liked the episode where they got people to think they were drinking water that had cascaded down Mt. Fiji. All the while, they were really drinking water that had been bottled out of a hose earlier that night.

Really miss that show, wish it would come back.

Anyone post this yet? McDonald's bows to pressure and will change the way its burgers are made. Or so they say.
