That Dwight Clark catch probably caused me to scream the loudest I've ever screamed while watching a sporting event...

Every time I see that picture, I think about that old newsreel of the Parisian man crying as the Germans march through the Arc D'Triomphe. That's how I felt as a 9th-grader when I saw that catch.

An amusing side note...there's a chain of sports bars that opened a location recently in this West Texas city. They have fancy historical sports photo prints on the wall...Ali-Frazier, Reggie Jackson, etc. One of the pictures they have is of "The Catch." Kind of like having the "Flying Bobby Orr" picture in a St. Louis bar, but worse. The manager of that place needs to send that picture back to the corporate office...pretty much trumps their sneaky attempts to pose as a local sports bar.

 

I love how Clark keeps the ball in a box in his closet.
