    Or so one reading her mind would have thought, for her thoughts drifted to a tragic murder-suicide she had seen on the morning news that very day.

    She only remembers some of the details, focused as she was on reaching Mile 2 on the treadmill, although she did remember their first names were John and Emily.

    She got a text message from a co-worker about who she was going to make her debut on the other team with, and she texted back "idk, my bff jill"

    CHAPTER TWO

    John and Emily, Emily and John....the first conjoined twins ever born to lesbian mothers, separated at 11 months old, leaving each with one lung....so close throughout their lives that friends just called them Jemily.

    It just seemed so much more natural that way; their mom tried Emohn but it didnt have the same lilt.

    John became a Renaissance man, Emily a storyteller who didn't always finish her stories.

    John couldn't cook a lick; Emily always hosted Thanksgiving dinner -- whether she wanted to or not -- but this year would be different; her friend Pow was going to meet the family.

    And what a story she'd have to explain, no doubt between spoonfuls of cranberry sauce and handfuls of corn muffins, about a tawdry night she reflected back on with a mixture of shame and intensity which almost ended her career but ultimately did the opposite -- it helped her immensely.
