The Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League is in its second season of playing evening home games at 7:11 p.m. as a result of a deal with 7-11.

 

And coincidentally, those are the ages of two of the Spirit girlfriends.

 

Brockton Rox did it from 02 to 05. Anyone know of any other teams?

 

that's one of the more creative marketing moves i've heard of, even if it's been done elsewhere. i mean who the hell pays attention to the "midas kickoff" and a "joe's toyota first down"? i don't know about you but i long ago learned to tune that stuff out. all year long people will ask why 7:11 and not 7:10 and 7-11 will be ingrained in people's minds.

The Inland Empire 66ers (Class A, Cal League) have started their games at 7:11 the past couple years, as well.

 

So will newspapers refuse to list times of games anymore, since if they list 7:11 p.m. it could be construed as an unpaid advertisement?

 

This is a marketing match made in heaven. If Sox fans aren't eating at a 7-11, they're robbing one.
