Texas Police Chief Murdered.

It's awful. A cop being killed is a tragedy.

But the danger of the job is part of the equation. Outrage isn't going to be equal for an armed officer being killed in a dangerous job, as it will be for an unarmed teenager who was shot six times in the middle of the street. Being an unarmed teenager isn't supposed to be a dangerous occupation.

 

Being a criminal is.

 

What is there to protest? The issue in Freguson is that the police shot someone and the officer has not been charged. While I agree the circumstances are different but there is at least something to debate.

In this case the alleged gunman has been charged and is looking at the death penalty.

 

Protest the culture that enables a criminal like that to shoot a cop.

 

But will The White House send a delegation to the funeral

1. A cop confronts an armed suspect. Who do you want to win?

2. No shit there are corrupt cops. I'm not referring to the corrupt ones.

3. The fact that you see criminals as the equal of cops is even more stupid.

OK. I will protest it. But what am I protesting? What culture enables a criminal to shoot a cop?

 

Was the officer not wearing a vest? I know it's anecdotal, but even the tiniest jurisdiction I used to cover had officers wear vests.

 

He may have been arrested 20 times for loitering and just couldn't trust cops and hated them because of that.
