Troy Neel, who played two seasons with the A's, was apparently the biggest deadbeat dad in Texas, until his arrest in Australia, the state's AG office announced today.

  2. So he went to Australia, taking it on the lamb.

    Australia?

Geez, they should tell the Texas AG that the new biggest deadbeat dad is Osama bin Laden.

I covered Troy Neel when he was a baseball and football player at Brazoswood High School, in the part of Texas where the mosquito is the state bird, about 70 miles from Houston near the Coast. In '84, he and Kevin Garner (a first-round pick from UT who never did anything at the pro level) and another guy named Tim Good all hit somewhere from 15-20 home runs and won the 5A state title. Garner was also a terrific pitcher.

At the time, he seemed like a decent kid.

    Repeat, at the time.

I read earlier this year he was living on some hedonistic island out by New Zealand or something where he was eluding the authorities.

He makes his living off of the people's taxes ...

This verse should be a first ballot Bad Lyric Hall Of Fame inductee. To be in the Bad Lyric Hall of Fame, the song must be enjoyable despite its piss-poor lyrics.

And if Steve Miller if the Ty Cobb of the Bad Lyric HOF, Lenny Kravitz is the Babe Ruth.

He was easy to catch. He was distracted with a game of knifey-spoony.

At least the guy went far away when he ran. I hate the fact that whenever someone runs from the law they don't run far. Case in point a dude up here ran from Seattle PD and they found him in Tacoma. What the hell, if you are gonna run, go to LA or something.
