As far as I can tell, Calvin Tillie, scumbag that he may be, did not murder anyone.

I'll put it this way, and leave it at that...

I sleep better knowing that some evil people are eliminated and therefore never pose a threat to humanity again. Whether they're executed or kept in prison for life matters little in the end. If a state chooses to execute and the people support those laws, my only advice to you would be NOT to murder someone in that state.

And if that little girl dies?

Tell that to the victim and family of Calvin Tillie's next outburst.

If that little girl dies, then he has murdered someone.
Given that he is facing life in prison for attempted murder, I don't expect him to ever be a free man again, anyway.

So whatever vile and violent things he does to folks while in prison is of no concern to you?

To other prisoners? You expect us to believe it's a concern to you?

I'm not so optimistic. Plenty of convicted killers spend fewer than 10 years in prison.

While in prison? WTF does that have to do with this little girl?

We had a long and on-going death penalty discussion yesterday after New Jersey abolished the death penalty. I'm not getting into another one today.

Simply put, I am opposed to the death penalty in all cases. Life without parole is just fine.
We can agree to disagree on this.

    I don't agree with that. :D

  11. The state should not be in the position of taking vengeance for me.
And we don't make public policy based on the latest atrocity. That's the worst way to do it.

How about the state just agrees to take vengeance for those whose loved ones are murdered, instead of doing it for you?
