So taking a team to the heights of mediocrity is MVP type stuff?

Kobe's great. Not arguing that. He's just not an MVP anymore than Adrian Dantley or Alex English was back in the day.

They're playing in the west and are in the toughest division in the league.

    Which means ... ?

He's playing the hypothetical card, Ides. If the Lakers were in the East, if Kobe was on the Suns, etc.

My response: If your aunt had balls, she'd be your uncle.

EDIT: Never mind. It appears Chuck has shifted his argument.

Which means having the 6th seed in the west with that crappy team(including all the injuries) is a pretty great accomplishment.
The top two candidates for the MVP are Kobe and LeBron. Dirk and Nash are great, but you can't sit there and tell me that Nash more important to the Suns than Kobe(or lebron) is to the Lakers. You just can't.

    Well, then ...

If Nash were on the Lakers, Kobe would finish second on his team in MVP voting, but still lead the league in scoring, dunks and fanboy apologists.

    Yes, I can.

Nash is more valuable and Dirk is more valuable.

Kobe, while a fantastic player, is not the MVP. WINS matter, regardless of the supporting cast for an all-star. WINS matter. Dirk has more, Nash has more.

This isn't the "Player with the most wins" award. This is the MVP. Most Valuable Player.

Amare Stoudemire,Shawn Marion, Josh Howard, Jason Terry.

Lamar Odom(injured), Luke Walton(injured), Smush Parker, LARRY HUGHES, Eric Snow

Am I the only one seeing this?

You have a much different definition of value, I guess.

Kobe will finish third in the voting behind Dirk and LeBron. Nash will finish fourth because he, too, has been hurt a little bit and Dirk will get many of his votes.

That'll probably happen. But I just don't agree with it.

Dirk off the Mavs=No NBA Finals

Josh Howard off the Mavs=No NBA Finals

so what you're saying is Dirk is a difference maker between being in the NBA Finals and being the Lakers?

Kobe ON the Lakers = No NBA finals.

I'm confused, are you saying giving Kobe a sidekick like Nash or Dirk would result in the Lakers still being NBA also-rans?
And that makes Kobe an MVP how?
